From the President
China’s foreign currency reserve has been become the first place in the world. China’s economic growth continues to prosper and a 8% GDP is forecast for this year. CEPA has been implemented for five years and yet, it has not substantially benefited HK SME’s, especially the service sector, besides the “zero tariff” policy.
In the capacity as Chairman of ISME, my ultimate goal is to seize every business opportunity made available to HK SME’s and to capitalize on CEPA’s facilities in order to benefit our members. One of the main strategies is, of course, to enhance the cooperation opportunities with SME’s in China and overseas countries.
We witness tremendous economic and industrial developments by the private enterprise sector which has become one of the national economic pillars in China. I strongly believe HK SME’s can play an active role in this development process, assisting China’s private enterprises to enter the global market. I am sure all our members will benefit themselves in this process and I also count on your contributions in this respect.
Thanks to the efforts made by our founding directors, I am glad that I have had a well-established infrastructure to work on. I like to express my sincere gratitude to our founding Chairperson Ms. Phyllis Kwong and the immediate past Chairman Mr. Joseph Leung and Joseph Wong. I am also indebted to the unfailing support by HKSAR Trade and Industry Department, Trade Development Council, Hong Kong Productivity Council and many trade associations. I promise I will make my best efforts to achieve the goals of ISME and I will make myself readily resourceful to all our members.
Wish you good health, good luck and all the best!
